Dear Calvary Family,

Because I am not able to personally visit with each of you, I am taking this opportunity to share some important information regarding our church and its future. I hope and pray that each of you will sense God’s presence and leading as we walk forward together in His grace. I believe, as I hope you do, that the ministries of our church are a blessing to both our church body and families outside our congregation. God continues to bless us, as we fulfill His mission, and our church family is growing. Yet with this growth, comes challenges.


One of those challenges is the need for additional facility space for our growing ministry. Therefore, we are beginning our first stewardship campaign, called “Building Home Base.” In baseball, “Home Base” is both a destination and a starting place. And, that’s what we believe our church should be as well. Home Base is a place of safety.

Home Base is a place where each of us are challenged to step up and swing. Home Base is also a starting point – it’s a place where ministries, ministers, and missionaries launch out from! And, of course, Home Base is also the place where, having run our course, we return to celebrate our collective victories in Christ! This is what our church and the “Building Home Base” campaign is all about!

Our current monthly income must be used for our operating budget and ministries, but we believe that with God’s help, the Building Home Base Campaign will help us focus on a godly solution to maintain the positive mission, ministry, and momentum of Calvary Bible Church.

As part of our Building Home Base campaign, every household is asked to prayerfully
consider making a sacrificial commitment (over and above your ongoing tithes and offerings) to be given over the next three years. We hope to raise $1.2 – 1.5 million dollars in order to build and renovate our “Home Base” and to prepare it for future ministry to Somers Point, the surrounding communities, and the world! As always, we know that God could do it without us, but we believe He wants each of us to join Him and to play a role. Therefore, I believe your personal involvement will play a major part in providing for your joy and our mission’s success.

Please prayerfully use this website to learn more about our Building Home Base ministry and watch your mailbox for an invitation to attend one of the Vision Gatherings. The purpose of this newsletter and these meetings is to share information with you, to answer any questions you might have, and to encourage you to make this a special matter in your daily personal prayers. Once your invitation is received, a church volunteer will contact you to confirm your attendance. Please know that your participation in a Vision Gathering is very important and that no commitments will be taken at these meetings.

So, when you are called, please say “yes.”

These are exciting days of decision in our church. Let us commit to seek and act in
accordance with God’s will. To the glory of God, we will move ahead with faith.
